  • Ratings reaffirmed for bank facilities of Apeejay Shipping Limited:
    Credit Rating Agency ICRA has reaffirmed the [ICRA]AA- (pronounced ICRA double A minus) rating for long term bank facilities availed by Apeejay Shipping Limited and [ICRA]A1+ rating to Rs. 30 crore Commercial Paper issue of the Company.

  • On 11th April, 2016 Apeejay Shipping joined global leaders in the fight to shut down illegal wildlife trafficking and signed the Buckingham Palace Declaration led by HRH the Duke of Cambridge.

  • On 4th June, 2015 Credit Rating Agency ICRA reaffirmed the AA- rating for Apeejay Shipping Limited’s term loans, fund based bank limits and non-fund based bank limits and assigned A1+ rating for its Commercial Paper. This is the 5th year (since 2010) that ICRA has reaffirmed AA- ratings for ASL.

  • Appointment of Ms. Priya Paul on the board of directors of Apeejay Shipping Limited with effect from 30th March, 2015.

  • Apeejay Shipping announces the appointment of an independent Director Mr. Sabyasachi Hajara on the board of directors of Apeejay Shipping Limited with effect from 31st December, 2014.

  • On 16th April, 2014, Credit Rating Agency ICRA has reaffirmed the [ICRA]AA- (pronounced ICRA double A minus) rating assigned to the long term borrowings of Apeejay Shipping Limited. The outlook on the long term rating has been revised from negative to stable. ICRA has also reaffirmed the [ICRA]A1+ (pronounced ICRA A one plus) rating assigned to non fund based bank limits of ASL.

  • APJ MAHADEVA joins the fleet:
    On 3rd Jan 2014, the company took delivery of a Gearless Panamax of 74,677 MT DWT (Built 2000 at Hudong Shipyard) and re-named it "APJ MAHADEVA" With this acquisition, ASL's fleet now comprises 8 dry bulk carriers (3 panamaxes, 4 supramaxes and one handymax) with a total deadweight capacity of about 483,000 tonnes.

  • Capt. I. J. Khosla, Director, has resigned from the Board with effect from 28th October, 2013 due to personal reasons.

  • Mr. S. Parthasarathy, resigned as Director of the Company. Mr. Parthasarathy, a renowned banker with ship financing background and financial analyst was with the Company since 1995. The Company has immensely benefited from his financial expertise and wisdom. The Board of Directors expressed deep appreciation for the services rendered by Mr. Parthasarathy.

  • Apeejay Shipping Limited announces acquisition of one gearless panamax vessel (delivery January 2014) taking its total fleet capacity to 484,013 mt DWT.

  • On 2nd July, 2013, Apeejay Shipping took physical delivery of a 17 years old Japanese built Gearless Panamax bulk carrier (Golden Glory) of 70,296 MT DWT. This ship has been re-named "APJ MAHAKALI". With this acquisition, ASL's fleet now comprises 7 dry bulk carriers with a total deadweight capacity of about 409,000 MT.

  • Reaffirmation of credit rating of bank facilities of Apeejay Shipping Limited
    On 29th April, 2013, credit rating agency, ICRA, has reaffirmed the [ICRA]AA- (pronounced ICRA double A minus) rating assigned to Apeejay Shipping Limited (ASL). This is significant achievement by ASL in view of continued recession in the shipping industry and down gradation of ratings of almost all the Indian shipping companies by their respective rating agencies.

  • Naming Ceremony: Hull no. N221 (APJ SHIRIN)
    On 1st April, 2012, the Paul Family attended the naming ceremony of the third new building at Cosco (Guangdong) Shipyard.
    Chairman, Mr. Karan Paul announced that Hull N221 (57K DWT of SDARI design) would be named "APJ SHIRIN".
    The vessel was christened by Chairperson Emeritus, Mrs. Shirin Paul.
    Cosco Shipyard hosted a grand banquet on the same day which was attended by Family Directors, top management of the shipyard, Lloyd's register, Apeejay Shipping as well as Apeejay's on-site supervision team and senior officers of the ship.

  • Naming Ceremony: Hull no. N220 (APJ JAI)
    On May 10th 2011, the Paul Family attended the naming ceremony of the second new building at Cosco (Guangdong) Shipyard.
    Chairman, Mr. Karan Paul announced that Hull N220 ( 57K DWT of SDARI design) would be named "APJ JAI".
    The vessel was christened by Chairperson Emeritus, Mrs. Shirin Paul.
    Cosco Shipyard hosted a grand banquet on the same day which was attended by Family Directors, top management of the shipyard, Lloyd's register, Apeejay Shipping as well as Apeejay's on-site supervision team and senior officers of the ship.

    APJ JAI, was delivered by the shipyard to the owners, Surrendra Overseas (Panama) Inc. on 27th May 2011.

  • Launching ceremony of our 2nd ship (APJ JAI) at COSCO Guangdong Shipyard, China, took place on 31st January 2011. Launching was attended by the chairman Mr Karan Paul. Click here to see pics

  • On April 5, 2010 Mr Jit Paul was conferred the "Varuna Award" for his outstanding contribution to the Indian Shipping Industry by the National Maritime Day Celebrations (Central) Committee.

  • On 6th December 2009 Padma Bhusan Shri Rama Kanta Rath, director of Apeejay Shipping Limited, has been awarded Honourary Degree of D Litt by KIIT University, Bhubaneswar.

  • On 10th of July, 2009, APJ SRIDEVI, a 1977 built Panamax, has been sold to foreign buyer at Trincomalee, Srilanka for onward trading / scrap. The ship was bought by the Company in 2002.

  • On April 28, 2009, Apeejay Shipping took delivery of the first of its three new building orders at Cosco (Guangdong) Shipyard, China. Christened 'APJ Kais' at a gala ceremony on April 17, the vessel is a 57,000 DWT geared Supramax of SDRI Dolphin design.

  • Apeejay Shipping Limited announced the acquisition of a 67,359 DWT Gearless Panamax, Japanese make. The ship that joined the fleet on March 24 2009, has been renamed ‘APJ Mahalaxmi’.

  • “Why don’t you get the boys to dance, I thought mariners were an interesting lot”, whispered Mrs Mukerjee. She may have spoken just minutes too early! Soon the Principal of Haldia Institute of Maritime Studies and Research, Capt Prakash exclaimed - "Quite fascinating!” and the IIPM campus group yelled in unision - "Wow great time”. A Great time it was indeed seing a floating staff who had sailed off to the competetion back in the Apeejay Shipping fold as also the shippie wives socializing with some joining on the dance floor as the night progressed. Vivacious numbers dished out by ‘Midnight Hues’ with Rijita Chatterjee as the lead vocalist had people taking turns between swigs and shaking a leg. Chief Executive officer, Shekhar Mahapatra who had delivered the welcome address and Director HRD & Strategy Sourav Daspatnaik were seen loosening up along with the Guest speaker Prof Suman Mukherjee. The professor who had flagged off the evening with a presentation on ‘Freeing the Mind’ may well have ended up telling his wife.."I said Free your mind and you said dance...these guys did both and more!" Indeed, June 27, was a red-letter day at Apeejay Shipping, Cheers to Shekhar Mahapatra for starting the Annual convention many years back, Thanks to Mr Jit Paul, for his gracious presence and most of all Thank you Shippie colleagues for coming!   • Apeejay Shipping Limited has placed orders for three dry bulk carriers of 57000 dwt each from one of China’s leading shipyards, the COSCO Shipyard Group for a total value of approx US $130 million. The three vessels, Dophin 57 design geared bulk carrier, will be built at Cosco’s Guangzhou shipyard and will be delivered between 2009 and 2011. Apeejay Shipping expects to receive the first vessel in April 2009.

  • On June 22, 2007, Apeejay Shipping held its Annual Programme & Dinner for the seafarers at The Park, Kolkata. Response from seafarers of the city was overwhelming, attendance being almost twice that of the last year. Merchant Navy officers who have sailed or are currently associated with the Apeejay fleet turned up in large numbers, many with their families. Also gracing the occasion were prominent personalities from the shipping industry in Calcutta (Calcutta's who's who of shipping). Highlight of this year's annual event was a highly educative and enjoyable short presentation on 'Human Asset Valuation" by the very well known Mr. Anoop Hoon.

  • On Nov 20, 2006, we sold our 2001 built gearless panamax bulker "APJ JIT" to Greek buyers as per a contract made in Oct 2006. APJ JIT was built in S. Korea and traded successfully in Apeejay Shipping for 5 years. With the sale of APJ JIT, Apeejay Shipping's fleet size now stands at 4 with a total dwt of 233,348 tons.

  • Mr. M.M. Dadhich (Director since 1975) and Mr. I.M. Kanga (Director since 1982) have resigned from the Board of Directors w.e.f. 28th Sept 2006, for personal reasons. The company, it staff and the Board of Directors have expressed their appreciation for the valuable guidance and services of Mr. Dadhich and Mr. Kanga during their long association with the company.

  • On April 28th 2006, we sold our 1983 built handy size bulker "APJ SUSHMA" to overseas buyers as per a contract made in March 2006. APJ SUSHMA was built in Japan and traded successfully in Apeejay Shipping for almost 23 years. With the sale of this ship, Apeejay Shipping's fleet size now stands at 5 with a total dwt of 310,000 tons.

  • Apeejay Shipping Limited organised it's Annual get-together for Merchant Navy Officers on 24th March'06 at The Park, Kolkata. The highlight of this year's get together was a Seminar on "Personal Effectiveness - Balancing Work & Family Life" followed by dinner and cocktails. The Seminar and party was rather well attended by seafarers, most of whom came with their spouses. Apeejay Shipping's own floating staff, Merchant Navy Officers/Engineers of Calcutta attended.   • On Feb 23, 06, we sold our 1982 built handy size bulker "APJ ANJLI" to Turkish buyers as per a contract made in Dec 2005. APJ ANJLI was built in Japan and traded successfully in Apeejay Shipping for almost 24 years. With the sale of APJ ANJLI, Apeejay Shipping's fleet size now stands at 6 with a total dwt of 336,000 tons.

  • In recognition of his contribution to Literature and Education, Mr Rath, Director of Apeejay Shipping Limited since 1994, has been awarded the 'Padma Bhushan' for 2006.

  • Following a 'fresh certificate of incorporation' from the Registrar of Companies, West Bengal, Surrendra Overseas Limited name stands changed to "Apeejay Shipping Limited" w.e.f Feb 6' 2006.

  • APJ JAD, 2002 blt geared ultra handymax of 52,454 tons dwt and APJ SURYAVIR, 1990 blt Geared Panamax of 71,037 tons dwt joined fleet in October 2005.
